Owings Mill, Md. - The seventh-ranked Purdue women's golf team posted its best round of the tournament Monday but ended in 13th place with a total score of 927 (+63) at the 2008 Duramed Preview in Owings Mills, Md. Sophomore Maude-Aimee Leblanc led the Boilermakers with the biggest turnaround in the two-day event, shooting an even-par 72 in her final round.

Sophomore Junthima Gulyanamitta was the low golfer for Purdue, finishing with a five-over par three-round score of 221 (76-70-75). She ended the event tied for 17th as an individual. Not far behind was senior Maria Hernandez who shot a four-over par 76 in her third round, giving her a total 10-over par 226.

Sophomore Maude Aimee-LeBlanc (+17, 233) carded the most impressive round for the Boilermakers on Monday, rebounding from her two previous rounds (81-80) with an even-par 72 on the final day. Senior Carolyn Mess and freshman Vaishavi Sinha shot an 83 and 87 in their final round. Mess ended with a 248 (84-81-83) while Sinha carded a 252 (83-82-87).

Arizona State (+8, 872) won the tournament overcoming a seven-stroke deficit, firing a two-under par 286 as team on Monday. The Sun Devils were led by Anna Nordqvist who finished two-under par, good for second place as an individual. Southern California (+16, 880) took home silver and Virginia (+19, 883) came in third.

Arizona State (295-291-286=872), Southern California (298-297-285=880) and Virginia (289-294-300=883) were followed by Georgia (293-286-305=884), Alabama (294-302-290=886), Oklahoma State (302-297-296=895), Auburn (303-286-308=897), Duke (300-297-301=898), Wake Forest (304-305-299=908), Denver (304-311-298=913), Arkansas (310-306-308=924), Texas A&M (308-304-314=926), Purdue (313-308-306=927), Florida (312-308-308=928) and host Georgetown (327-327-331=985).

Oklahoma State freshman Caroline Hedwall captured medalist honors, firing a four-under par 212 to top the field of 75 golfers. Hedwall entered the final round in fourth place, but carded a three-under par 69 on Monday.

The Boilermakers return to competition at the Mason Rudolph Invitational which runs Sept 26 to 28 in Franklin, Tenn.
