COLUMBUS, Ohio - A pair of Purdue freshmen track and field standouts stepped on to the national scene on Friday, competing at the U.S.A. Junior Outdoor Championships, at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Rookie Terri Anderson had the top finish of the day, placing eighth in the women's discus throw.

A native of Wichita, Kan., Anderson made the finals in the discus with a toss of 44.35 meters (145-06) on her final preliminary throw. However, she fouled on all three finals attempts and topped out there, finishing in eighth place.

Classmate Lindsey McKnight gave a solid effort in the women's 800-meter run, crossing the line 14th with a time of 2:14.44.

First-year Kristina Krasich will wrap up the Boilermaker's efforts at the junior nationals on Sunday, competing in the finals of the women's 1,500-meter run at 3:50 p.m.
