ATHENS, Ga. - With one round to play, the sixth-ranked Purdue women's golf team is just three strokes out of first place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. Purdue shot a 303 (302-303=605) on Saturday and trails host Georgia who carded a 300 (302-300=602). No. 14 Alabama is in third with a second round team score of 609.
Purdue freshman Maude-Aimee Leblanc and Amanda Blumenherst of Duke are tied for the individual lead at 146 (+2). Both golfers carded an even-par 72 in the second round. Georgia's Krystle Caithness is third place individually at three-over 147.
The Boilermakers have three golfers in the top 10 individually. Junior Christel Boeljon is tied for fourth after recording a 75 on Saturday for a five-over par 149. Junior Maria Hernandez carded a 74 on Saturday and is tied for ninth with a six-over par 150.
Freshman Junthima Gulyanamitta dropped to a tie for 63rd after firing an 82 in the second round. She has a two-day total of 160 (+16), while Carolyn Mess improved her score by four strokes, shooting an 85 on Saturday and is in 95th.
The Liz Murphey Classic is being held at the UGA Golf Course, a 6,335-yard, par-72 venue.
