Freshman Beth Cinadr hit a fly ball which bounced off the glove of the centerfielder, scoring three. Junior Christina Trauger, who drew a one-out walk, senior Ashley Hall, who reached on a fielder's choice and stole second, and sophomore Ashley Barr, who walked, all scored on the play.

With one out, Miller reached on a fielding error by the shortstop to score one. A fielder's choice play at the plate accounted for the second out. However, the Boilermakers continued to score as Barr drew an RBI walk. Cinadr reached on a fielding error by the second baseman, scoring Miller to put Purdue up 10-0.
A pair of fly balls and a strikeout left two Orange players stranded in the bottom of the fifth to wrap up the game.
