WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Las Vegas native Nicole Weatherman provided two wins for Purdue at the Arizona State duals Saturday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz.

Weatherman won the 1000 free in 10:08.42 and the 500 free in 4:55.20; however, that's all the Boilermakers would receive in the in win column against the host Sun Devils, Washington and Oregon State.

No. 17 ASU beat Purdue 201-86. 25th ranked Washington defeated the Boilermakers 158.5 to 102.5.

Purdue defeated Oregon State 156-105 in raising its overall mark to 2-6.

"Nicole's been swimming great for us all year, so I'm convinced she'll have a very promising championship season," said head coach Cathy Wright-Eger.

While the final scores weren't what the Boilermakers had in mind, Wright-Eger was pleased with most of the results. The longtime head coach applauded Christine Inman's effort in the 200 butterfly, Ariel Martin's third-place showing in the 50 free, plus several medal-worthy swims from Allie Smith.

Smith was third in the 100 backstroke at 57.41, second in the 200 back at 2:01.78 and led the 200 medley relay to a third-place time of 1:46.21 with a leadoff split of 26.99.

"The team had a great training camp out west," said Wright-Eger. "I felt we grew as a team and everyone is meeting their potential."

The Boilermakers' will look to snap their losing streak Saturday as they play host to Michigan State at 1 p.m. Purdue beat the Spartans earlier this season at Penn State, 272-81.
