KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Purdue women's golf team has moved into a tie for second place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The Boilermakers recorded a team total 291 in the second round, giving them a team score of 582 with one round to play. Freshman Junthima Gulyanamitta continues to be the low golfer for Purdue and is tied for fourth with an even-par total of 142.

Florida overtook first place, firing a 288 on Saturday after a 289 in the first round, for a team total of 577. The Boilermakers are tied with Arkansas for second, Denver is in fourth (585) and Auburn and Virginia are tied for fifth (588). Alabama's Kathleen Ekey remains in first place as an individual with a two-round total of 138, after firing a one-under par 70 in the second round.

Gulyanamitta was one of three Purdue golfers to fire a two-over par 73 in the second round. Junior Christel Boeljon and freshman Maude-Aimee Leblanc also carded 73s. Boeljon is tied for 17th with four-over par 146 and LeBlanc is tied for 45th with a total score of 151.

Maria Hernandez shot the low round of the day for Purdue, recording a 72 in the second round. She is tied for eighth with a total score of 143. Junior Stephanie Oukeo fired a 76 on Saturday and is tied for 71st with a total of 154.

The 54-hole championship is being played at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The course is a winding par-71, 5,932-yard stretch that is providing a tough test for the golfers. Tennessee, the host team for the event slipped to a tie for 11th after the second round.
