ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Purdue women's golf team finished tied for eighth with New Mexico, the host team, at the Margaret Branch NCAA Preview on the UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Boilermakers fired a 302 in the final round for a three-round total of 888 (+12). It was their highest round of the tournament.

Duke, the three-time defending national champions won the event with a total score of 860 (-16). Southern California finished second, just one stroke behind (861) and UCLA was third with a team total of 870.

Dewi Claire Schreefel of Southern California was the individual medalist. She finished fifteen strokes under par and carded a 67 (-6) on Wednesday.

Purdue's Maria Hernandez finished tied for 13th with rounds of 71, 70 and 75. Christel Boeljon also fired a 75 in the final round and tied for 17th with a three-day total of 218.

Freshman Maude-Aimee Leblanc was the low golfer for Purdue in the final round, carding a 74 and finishing tied for 26th. LeBlanc recorded a total score of 222 (+3).

Junthima Gulyanamitta recorded a 78 on Wednesday and tied for 68th. Stephanie Oukeo fired a 79 and tied for 90th.

The 54-hole event was held on the UNM Championship Course, a par-73, 6,069-yard venue. The NCAA Preview presents the only chance for teams outside the Mountain West Conference to play the course before the NCAA Championships on May 20 to 23.

The women's team competes again Oct. 14 to 16 at the Mercedes Benz Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.
