DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Purdue women's golf team moved into second place at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla., just eight strokes behind Duke going into the final round of play. Purdue sophomore Christel Boeljon extended her individual lead to five strokes by firing a 69 on Thursday.

Boeljon has a three-round total of 210 (-6) and is one of only two players with a below-par total. Boeljon has posted a tournament-high 15 birdies through 54 holes, including six birdies in today's round. She had four birdies on the back nine, finishing with a birdie on the 18th hole.

"Today, I played really solid again," said Boeljon. "I hit a lot of fairways and greens. I made some bogeys, but on this course you have to expect them. I trusted my game well enough that I would make some birdies and that's what I'm doing."

Paola Moreno of USC moved into second place with an individual score of 215 (-1).

First-place Duke has a three-round total of 880 (300-287-293), the Boilermakers have a team total of 888 (303-294-291) and UCLA is in third with a score of 893 (303-291-299). Georgia is in fourth place (902) while Vanderbilt and Stanford are tied for fifth (903).

"For us to shoot three-over as a team is obviously a good team score," said Purdue head coach Devon Brouse. "You have to give Christel a pat on the back and Stephanie Endstrasser one too. Two under-par rounds really helps in this situation. I think Duke has a nice little lead, but we don't really control Duke. We just have to try and play well tomorrow and see what happens."

Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Endstrasser made the largest jump in the individual standings for Purdue. She fired a one-under par 71 today and is tied for 15th with a three-day total of 223 (+7). She had three birdies on the front nine and two bogeys on the back.

Sophomore Maria Hernandez, Purdue's highest-rated individual golfer at No. 11, improved to a tie for 32nd place. She carded a 75 on Thursday and is plus-11 for the tournament.

Senior Myrte Eikenaar remains tied for 36th after recording a 76 in the third round. She is plus-12 heading in to the final round. Sophomore Stephanie Oukeo improved to a tie for 109th after firing a 78, her lowest round of the tournament.

The highest the Boilermakers have finished in the NCAA Championships is ninth place, which they achieved in 2000 and 2006.

Purdue begins the final round of play tomorrow starting at 1:20 p.m. ET at the LPGA International Legends Course. Live scoring is provided by golfstat.com.
