Purdue Remains In Second

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Purdue women's golf team remains in second place after three rounds of the Big Ten Championships.

The Boilermakers fired a 296 on Saturday and have totaled 913 strokes over the first three rounds. Michigan State extended their lead on their home course, with a 23 stroke lead over Purdue. Northwestern is in third, eight strokes behind the Boilermakers.

Purdue had four golfers in the top 16 overall. Four of the team's six scores count toward the team total.

Sophomore Christel Boeljon retained sole possession of second place after firing an even-par 72 on Saturday. She is at plus-three for the tournament with rounds of 72-75-72 (219). Michigan State's Rachel Meikle remains in first place at three-under par.

Maria Hernandez carded a 73, keeping her in sixth place overall. Senior Myrte Eikenaar is tied for 13th after a 76 in the third round, her best score thus far in the tournament.

Freshman Stefanie Endstrasser fired a third-round 75 and is tied for 16th. Sophomore Stephanie Oukeo is tied for 45th after carding a 78 on Saturday and senior Caroline Haase is tied for 59th with a three-round total of 252.

The tournament is being held at the Forest Akers West Golf Course, a par-72, 6,237-yard layout. The field will play the final 18 on Sunday.

Purdue is the top-ranked team in the field and finished first in last year's Big Ten Championships.
