COLUMBUS, Ohio - With one round left to play, the Purdue men's golf team is in second place at the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The Boilermakers' 304 in the third round gives them a two-day sum of 895. They trail Michigan State by six strokes. Senior Pariya Junhasavasdikul remains in first place, firing a 73 today for a three-round total of 214 (+1).
Minnesota is in third place with a team total of 898 and Indiana and Wisconsin are tied for fourth with scores of 902.
Purdue's seniors continue to lead the way as Bobby Bennett and Peter Richardson join Junhasavasdikul as the Boilermakers' top three golfers. Bennett is tied for 17th, carding a third-round 77 for a tournament total of 226. Richardson also fired a 77 today and his 228 has him tied for 21st.
Just one stroke behind and tied for 25th, with a three-round total of 229, is sophomore Tom Oliver. Freshman Vince Nadeau is tied for 37th after carding a 78 in the third round.
The tournament is being held at the Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course, a par-71, 7,444-yard layout. The Boilermakers finished third in last year's event.
