COLUMBUS, Ohio - Purdue women's golf team won its fourth tournament of the year with a first place finish in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday.

The 12th-ranked Boilermakers led Michigan State by 11 strokes heading into the final round. Purdue fired a 298 on Sunday and the Spartans carded a 307 to finish in second place by 20 strokes. Purdue totaled 891. Kent State finished third after a total of 933. Ohio State and Iowa rounded out the top five.

The Lady Buckeye Invitational was the final tune-up for the Big Ten Championships next weekend in East Lansing, Mich.

Sophomore Maria Hernandez won medalist honors after a tournament total of 215 strokes. She carded a final-round 73 and finished one-under par after the three rounds. It is the fourth consecutive tournament that Hernandez has finished first or tied for first.

Sophomore Christel Boeljon made it a one-two punch for the Boilermakers by finishing second with a total of 218 strokes. Boeljon carded a 76 on Sunday to finish two-over for the tournament.

Senior Myrte Eikenaar posted a two-over 74 on Sunday to finish sixth. She totaled 227 strokes over the three rounds.

Sophomore Stephanie Oukeo totaled 236 strokes for three rounds, finishing 17th overall and freshman Stefanie Endstrasser finished just one stroke behind at 237 to finish tied for 18th.

The tournament was held at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course, a par-72, 5,887-yard layout.

The Boilermakers are in action again on April 27 to 29 at the 2007 Big Ten Championships at Michigan State.
