ATHENS, Ga. - The Purdue University women's golf team posted a strong second-day performance at the 35th Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia, shooting a round of 299 on Saturday. The round was good enough to move the Boilermakers into a tie for seventh place with the host Bulldogs and the University of Alabama.

Auburn was able to hold onto their lead, matching the Boilers' day-two total of 299, and securing an overall score of 592. Close behind the Tigers is the University of Arkansas (597) and Florida (598). Purdue remains in the mix for the overall team title, standing only 11 shots off the lead.

For the second straight day Purdue was lead by Sophomore Maria Hernandez who shot a score of 73. Her two-day total of 148 is the Boilermakers' top score and ties her for third place individually.

Senior Myrte Eikenaar and Sophomore Christel Boeljon are tied for 26th with individual totals of 151. They are trailed closely by freshmen Stefanie Endstrasser (157) and Fabienne In-Albon (159), who were the only two Purdue players to improve on their scores from yesterday.

The final day of tournament action will start tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
