ORLANDO, Fla. - Purdue women's golf team concluded play Saturday at the 4th Annual Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship for Women at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
No. 5 seed Wake Forest defeated No. 8 seed Purdue, 2-2-1 in a tiebreaker.
Junior Whitney Frykman earned a 2 and 1 win over Margaret Simons and sophomore Christel Boeljon defeated beat Nannette Hill 3 and 1.
Senior Myrte Eikenaar and sophomore Stephanie Oukeo dropped their third-round matches. Maria Hernandez halved her match with Wake Forest's Amanda Goins but lost the tie-breaker.
Wake Forest will face No. 10 seed Florida on Sunday in the consolation bracket finals.
No. 2 seed Duke and No. 4 seed Vanderbilt were victorious in their semi-final matches to advance to the finals. Duke captured the first two stagings of this event in 2003 and 2004. Purdue was the defending champion of the event.
