Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Purdue men's golf team is just one-stroke out of first place in the Landfall Tradition Collegiate Golf Invitational in Wilmington, N.C., after the opening round of play. The Boilermakers shot a 296 (+8) at the par-72 Country Club of Landfall's Jack Nicklaus Course, good for second place.

Individually Purdue has two players tied for third, sophomore Michael Randle and senior Peter Richardson. They both shot an even-par 72.

Senior Pariya Junhasavadikul carded a 75 and is tied for 13th. Junhasavadikul is currently ranked the 29th best individual player in the nation.

Freshman Vince Nadeau is tied for 25th after scoring a first round 77 while senior Bobby Bennett is tied for 36th after shooting a 79.

Tulsa's men's golf team shot a 7-over-par 295 to grab the first-round lead. Individually, Tulsa's Mitch Cohlmia and Kansas' Bobby Knowles stand in a tie at the top of the leaderboard after shooting a 1-under par.

Trailing Purdue is Ohio State (299), Kansas (299), Memphis (305), Indiana (306), Xavier (309), Missouri (310), Virginia Tech (311), UNC Wilmington (314), VCU (316) and Maryland (320).

The second day of the 54-hole event hosted by UNC Wilmington gets under way Saturday at 8:17 a.m.
