The Purdue women's golf team continues to lead the field after three rounds of the Big Ten championships.

In rainy conditions, the Boilermakers fired a 295 on Saturday and have totaled 881 strokes over the first three rounds. Michigan State gained two strokes on Purdue on Saturday and is two strokes back heading into the final round. Ohio State is third, five strokes back.

Purdue had five individuals in the top 13 overall. Four of the team's six scores count toward the team total.

On Saturday, Purdue's dynamic freshmen duo led the way.

Maria Hernandez and Christel Boeljon each carded a two-over 74. Hernandez is tied for fifth overall and Boeljon is in eighth place alone. Hernandez is three over par through three rounds and Boeljon is four over. Hernandez had two birdies and four bogeys on Saturday, while Boeljon had one birdie and three bogeys.

The Boilermakers veterans are also doing their share. Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot posted a 73, the lowest round of the day for Purdue. She had one birdie and two bogeys. Junior Myrte Eikenar had a four-over 76. The duo is tied for ninth place overall.

Sophomore Whitney Frykman is tied for 13th place after a 74 on Saturday. Freshman Stephanie Oukeo is tied for 37th after a 78 in the third round.

The tournament is being held at the Indiana University Golf Course, a par-72, 6,477-yard layout. The field will play 18 holes on Saturday and the final 18 on Sunday.

Purdue is the top-ranked team in the field. The seventh-ranked Boilermakers also have four student-athletes in the top 100 individual rankings.

Final-round action will begin on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start because of threatening weather. The event is being scored live at golfstat.com.
