The Purdue women's golf team held the third-best ranking in the field heading into the 2006 Bryan National Collegiate. Unfortunately, the final results on Sunday would bring no change in the standings.

The Boilermakers finished third after a three-round total of 885, 10 strokes back of sixth-ranked Georgia. Purdue is ranked No. 8 in the latest Golfweek.com Poll. Top-ranked Duke finished second with a total of 880. Tennessee (890) and host-school Wake Forest (899) rounded out the top five.

Purdue had four players in the top 25, but no individual was able to break par on Sunday.

Freshman Maria Hernandez placed fifth, her best finish since taking home top honors at the Lady Northern Invitational on Sept. 25. Hernandez totaled 218 and fired a 73 on Sunday. Her round of 71 on Saturday was the lowest of the tournament for the Boilermakers.

Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot overcame a triple bogey on hole No. 11 on Sunday to card a one-over 73. She played the front nine at two-under and totaled 222 over the three days. She tied for 13th overall.

Junior Myrte Eikenaar tied for 21st and freshman Christel Boeljon tied for 24th. Eikenaar posted the best round of the day for Purdue on Sunday with a 72. Boeljon fired a 73 in the final round.

Sophomore Whitney Frykman posted her best score (76)of the event on Sunday. She tied for 54th overall.

The 54-hole event was held on the Bryan Park Champions Course.

This was the ninth year for Bryan National Collegiate. Purdue has played in the event five times. It's best finish, prior to Sunday, was eighth in 2003.

The Boilermakers are in action again on April 22 and 23 at the Lady Buckeye in Columbus, Ohio.
