The Purdue women's golf team sits third in the highly talented field after the second round of the 2006 Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summitt, N.C.

The eighth-ranked Boilermakers fired a 299 on Saturday and trail sixth-ranked Georgia by three strokes. The Bulldogs shot a 291 on Saturday to take the lead after sitting tied for fourth place after the first round. Top-ranked Duke fired a 295 in the second round and is in second place, two strokes behind Georgia.

Purdue was led by freshman Maria Hernandez, who fired a one-under 71 on Saturday. Hernandez racked up four birdies and three bogeys during her round. She is tied for fourth place overall.

Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for 12th place after a second round of 77. Freshman Christel Boeljon fired a 78 on Saturday. She lies tied for 26th going into the final round.

Junior Myrte Eikenaar rebounded from a first round of 79 with a one-over 73 on Saturday. Eikenaar's 73 was the second lowest score for the Boilermakers on Saturday behind Hernandez. Eikenaar moved up to 26th overall.

Sophomore Whitney Frykman shot a second round total of 82 and is tied for 52nd overall.

The 54-hole event is being held on the Bryan Park Champions Course.

This is the ninth year for Bryan National Collegiate. Purdue has played in the event four times. It's best finish was eighth in 2003.
