The Purdue men's golf team played well, but was unable to catch Indiana at the 2006 Boilermaker Invitational on Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind.

Purdue, ranked 39th in the latest Golfweek.com poll, entered the final round 10 strokes behind the Hoosiers. The Boilermakers fired a 298 on Sunday, but Indiana carded a 294. Purdue totaled 896 over the three rounds, 14 strokes behind Indiana. Notre Dame finished third (900), Louisville (905) was fourth and Toledo (908) was fifth.

Indiana's Jorge Campillo took home top individual honors after carding a final-round 68. He totaled 212 over the three rounds.

Purdue was led by junior Pariya Junhasavasdikul, who showed tremendous improvement between rounds on Saturday. Junhasavasdikul carded a final-round 74 and totaled 221 over the two days. He tied for fifth overall.

Sophomore Santiago Russi is tied for ninth. He fired a 74 on Sunday and totaled 222.

Junior Peter Richardson tied for 17th. He carded the low round of the day for Purdue on Sunday with a one-over 73.

Freshman Tom Oliver recorded a final-round 77 and tied for 33rd overall. He totaled 232 strokes. Michael Randle fired an 81 and tied for 45th overall.

Bobby Bennett competed as an individual and tied for 22nd overall. He fired a final-round 78 after a 70 in the afternoon on Saturday.

The invitational was held at the 7,083-yard, par-72 Kampen Course. The Kampen Course is a Pete Dye design and will host the 2008 NCAA Men's Golf Championships.

This is the third year Purdue has hosted the event. The Boilermakers placed first in 2004 and were runners-up in 2005.

The field included Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Toledo, Wichita State and Wisconsin.

The Boilermakers are in action again from April 15 to 16 in Columbus, Ohio, at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State.
