AUSTIN, Texas - The Purdue women's golf team moved up two spots to third place after the second round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas.

The eighth-ranked Boilermakers fired a second-round 302, four strokes lower than their Friday total and tied for the lowest round of the day.

Purdue was in fifth place after the first round, but moved up to third, four strokes behind No. 1 Duke and three behind second-place Texas A&M.

Freshman Maria Hernandez, who fired a team-low 72 on Friday, carded a three-over 75. She is tied for sixth overall.

Sophomore Whitney Frykman posted her second-straight round of 76. Her total of 152 has her tied for eighth overall.

Senior Onnarin Sattayabanphot rebounded from a first-round 80. On Saturday, she fired a team-low 71 and is tied for 10th overall.

Freshman Christel Boeljon is tied for 21st after rounds of 76 and 79. Junior Myrte Eikenaar trimmed five strokes off her first round score of 81. Her total of 157 ties her for 27th overall.

This is the third appearance for the Boilermakers in the event. They placed fourth in 2001. The Betsy Rawls Invitational features 15 teams, including top-ranked Duke.

The Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational is being played at the par 72, 6,353-yard University of Texas Golf Club. The second will be held on Saturday and the final round on Sunday.

The Boilermakers have placed second in both of their spring events. They captured a school-record four tournaments in the fall season.
