The Purdue men's golf team finished ninth at the 2005 Big Ten/PAC-10 Challenge on Tuesday in Glenview, Ill.
The Boilermakers were in seventh place at the conclusion of play on Monday and fired a final-round 300. They totaled an 882 and finished eight strokes behind Washington, which finished in fifth place. Northwestern won the event with a total of 860.
Junior Pariya Junhasavasdikul was the top-finishing Boilermaker. He finished ninth overall after totaling 215 strokes. Junhasavasdikul carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday. He was one under following his two rounds on Monday. His final round included two birdies and one double-bogey. It was the sixth top-10 finish of his career.
Junior Bobby Bennett overcame a 75 in his first round to finish at even par and in a tie for 13th place. Bennett carded a team-low 69 in the afternoon on Monday and concluded with an even-par 72 on Tuesday.
Junior Peter Richardson was tied for 23rd place after 36 holes and carded a final-round 79. He tied for 44th overall.
Freshman Michael Randle posted the third-lowest round of the day for the Boilermakers. He tied for 53rd overall after a final-round 77. Sophomore Santiago Russi tied for 57th overall after a final-round 79.
The event was held at the 7,236-yard, par-72 Glen View Golf Club. Purdue finished ninth in the event in the 2004 season.
The Boilermakers are in action again on Oct. 10 and 11 in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif.
