At the beginning of the 2004-05 season, the Purdue women's golf team had a goal of advancing to its sixth-straight NCAA Championships. On Saturday, the Boilermakers made their goal a reality.

Purdue finished tied for fifth at the NCAA Central Regional Championships in Lubbock, Texas. The top eight finish advances the Boilermakers to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships in Sunriver, Ore., from May 17 to 20.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round 304 and totaled 908. They tied with Tulsa for the fifth spot.

Auburn won the event with a total of 896 and Texas A&M placed second with a 903.

Freshman Whitney Frykman and junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot tied for sixth overall. They each fired a final-round 75 and totaled 224 over the three rounds.

Sophomore Myrte Eikenaar tied for 31st after a total of 229. She fired a 79 on Saturday.

Sophomore Caroline Haase tied for 60th after a 78. Redshirt-freshman Kara Eschbach tied for 98th after a final-round 76.

The NCAA Central Regional Championships was a 54-hole event and was hosted by Texas Tech. The event was at the Jerry S. Rawls Golf Course.

The Boilermakers are ranked No. 33 in the latest Sagarin/Golfweek Poll.

The Boilermakers finished ahead of No. 20 Arkansas, No. 31 Baylor, No. 36 Kent State, Long Island, No. 12 Louisiana State, No. 27 Michigan, No. 39 Michigan State, No. 18 Missouri, No. 14 New Mexico, Notre Dame, No. 47 South Florida, No. 32 SMU, No. 21 Texas, No. 28 TCU, Texas Tech, No. 22 Tulsa, and No. 15 Wake Forest in the field.

The Boilermakers have advanced to the NCAA regional championships every year since 1998.
