The Purdue women's golf team is in fourth place after the first 54 holes of the 2005 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships.
Conditions worsened on Saturday as winds gusted over 20 miles per hour and temperatures dipped into the low 30's. Only 12 players cracked 80 during the third round.
Purdue fired a third-round 325 and have totaled 938 strokes over the first 54 holes. The Boilermakers remain six strokes out of second place. They trail Michigan State for third place by five strokes.
Ohio State is running away with the event. The Buckeyes totaled 900 strokes over the first two days. Michigan is second with 932 strokes.
Despite the adverse conditions, junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot managed a 78. Her first-round total of 72 remains the lowest score of the tournament. She is tied for fourth place with a total of 227.
Freshman Whitney Frykman posted a 79 on Saturday. She is in seventh place overall, one spot behind her standings from Friday. She has totaled 229 strokes over the two days.
Sophomore Myrte Eikenaar dropped into a tie for 32nd place. She fired an 88 on Saturday. She has a total of 243. She posted a 74 in her first round on Friday.
Sophomore Caroline Haase jumped from 31st place to a tie for 22nd place after an 81 on Saturday. She totaled 240 over her first three rounds.
Redshirt-freshman Kara Eschbach fired an 88 and is tied for 61st. Freshman Danielle Wolter shot an 87 and is in 64th place.
The championships are being hosted by Michigan and held at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The course is a par 72 and is playing at 5,966 yards.
The final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start. If the weather worsens, play will begin at 11 .a.m. If it does not clear by 11, the event will be called and the standings will remain as they are after three rounds. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
