BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The Purdue women's golf team moved up to a 12th-place tie after the second round of the 2005 Bryan National Collegiate.
The Boilermakers totaled 310 strokes on Saturday, five strokes lower than their first-round total. Purdue has a total of 625 over the first two rounds and is tied with North Carolina. Duke leads the event with a 577. Tennessee is in second with 584 strokes.
Purdue was led in the second round by junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot, who fired a one-over par 73. She was one under on the front nine and is tied for 28th overall along with teammate Myrte Eikenaar. Eikenaar carded a 79 on Saturday.
Freshman Whitney Frykman once again torched the back nine. She was one-under par on the back nine and carded a 75 in the second round. She is tied for 36th overall.
Sophomore Caroline Haase and redshirt freshman Kara Eschbach carded an 83 and 84 respectively. Haase is tied for 80th overall and Eschbach is in 82nd place.
Purdue's best finish in the event was a fourth-place showing in 2001. This is the eighth year for the tournament. The Boilermakers have competed in the event the last four seasons.
The 18-team event is being hosted by the Wake Forest University and held at the Bryan Park Champions Course. The course is a par 72, 6,064-yard layout.
The Boilermakers are the only Big Ten school competing in the event.
