BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The Purdue women's golf team is tied for 15th place after the first round of the 2005 Bryan National Collegiate.

The Boilermakers totaled 326 strokes on Friday. Duke and Georgia lead the event after a pair of first-round 284s. Florida is in third place, and Tennessee is in fourth.

Purdue was led by sophomore Myrte Eikenaar, who carded a one-over 73 on Friday. She is tied for 16th overall. Eikenaar eagled the par-five third hole to go along with three bogeys on the day.

Junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot and freshman Whitney Frykman each carded a first-round 79. Frykman played the back nine at even par, recording two birdies and two bogeys. Sattayabanphot played the back nine at one-over par. The pair is tied for 58th overall.

Sophomore Caroline Haase and redshirt freshman Kara Eschbach each carded a first-round 84. The duo is tied for 77th overall.

Purdue's best finish in the event was a fourth-place showing in 2001. This is the eighth year for the tournament. The Boilermakers have competed in the event the last four seasons.

The 18-team event is being hosted by Wake Forest University and held at the Bryan Park Champions Course. The course is a par 72, 6,064-yard layout.

The Boilermakers are the only Big Ten school competing in the event.

Second round action begins on Saturday morning, and the final round will be held on Sunday. Live scoring and complete results can be found at golfstat.com.
