LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Purdue women's golf team finished eighth out of 18 teams at the 2005 UNLV Spring Invitational on Wednesday.

The Boilermakers were in ninth place after the first 18 holes on Monday and seventh after the second round. Purdue carded a 312 on Wednesday and totaled 941 strokes over the three days.

Southern California won the event with a total of 895. Pepperdine placed second with 910 strokes.

Freshman Whitney Frykman led the Boilermakers with the best tournament of her young career. Frykman fired a final-round 74 and tied for 18th place overall. She was tied for 25th entering the final 18 holes.

Junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot fired a final-round 79 and totaled 239 strokes on the week. She finished 29th overall.

Sophomore Myrte Eikenaar tied for 30th overall. She rebounded after a first-round 86, to card rounds of 76 and 74. Eikenaar's 74 on Wednesday tied Frykman for the lowest round of the day for the Boilermakers.

Sophomore Caroline Haase was in sixth place heading into the final round, but carded an 85 on Wednesday and totaled 237 strokes. She tied for 30th overall.

Freshman Danielle Wolter tied for 95th after totaling 275 strokes.

Redshirt freshman Kara Eschbach competed as an individual and tied for 84th after a final-round 84.

The event was hosted by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and held at the Black Mountain Country Club. The course is a par 72, 6,009-yard layout.

The Boilermakers are in action again from April 1 to 3 at the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.
