LAKE FOREST, Ill. - If Purdue sophomore Peter Richardson didn't have a favorite golf tournament before Tuesday he might now. For the second-consecutive year, Richardson won the Windon Memorial Classic hosted by Northwestern.
Richardson totaled a 214 over the three rounds to finish atop the leaderboard. The Boilermakers tied for third place overall in the 18-team field. Northwestern won the event with an 865, Duke finished second after totaling an 869. Purdue and Kent State each totaled 870.
Richardson fired a one-under 70 on the first 18 holes and then came back with a team-low 68 on the second 18.
Stanford-transfer Brandon Lawson also placed in the top 10 for the Boilermakers. He tied for ninth place after totaling 217. He carded a 69 in the second round.
Sophomore Bobby Bennett tied for 26th with a total of 221. He fired a 67, the lowest final round of the tournament.
Sophomore Pariya Junhasavadikul tied for 35th and senior Dustin Cone tied for 44th.
The Boilermakers tied for second in last years tournament. The tournament was held on the Conway Farms Golf Club. The course is a 6,733-yard, par-71 layout.
The Boilermakers are in action again on Oct. 11 and 12 at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif.
