Crazy Eighth

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Purdue men's golf team finished eighth at the 35th annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State.

The event was held on par-72, 7,251-yard Ohio State University Scarlet Golf Course.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round 300 and finished with a three-round total of 900. Xavier won the event after a total of 886. Purdue was just five strokes behind Ohio State, the tournament host and top Big Ten finisher.

Purdue was led by senior Shiv Kapur, who fired a final-round 76 and totaled a 224. He tied for 14th overall.

Freshman Pariya Junhasavasdikul tied for 22nd after a final-round 78. Freshman Peter Richardson overcame a first-round 81 and tied for 33rd after carding a 75 on Sunday.

Junior Dustin Cone shot the lowest round of the day for the Boilermakers. His 71 on Sunday tied him for 37th place after a two-day 229.

Freshman Johan Edin tied for 62nd after a 78 on Sunday.

The Boilermakers are in action again at the 2004 Men's Big Ten Golf Championships on May 7 to 9 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The championships will feature live scoring provided by golfstat.com.
