WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Track and Field will host a Winter clinic on Jan. 10 in Lambert Fieldhouse. All coaches, junior high, and high school athletes are invited to attend and be specifically trained in areas of their choice by Purdue's coaching staff and student-athletes. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $40.00; lunch will be provided.

Free admission is available for any coach who brings three or more athletes to the clinic.

The clinic will begin with training in the shot put, long jump, high jump, sprints, and distance events. After lunch, Purdue coaches and student-athletes will speak to students about their diet and nourishment. During the second part of the day, specific training will be offered to students in the discus, long jump, hurdles, middle distance, and pole vault. The clinic is designed to help motivate and prepare all students for the up-coming track season.

Coaches will have the chance to learn specific training techniques throughout the day, and will also be given the opportunity to learn about strength training and pole vault safety.

The Purdue track and field unofficially begins its season on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 3:30 p.m. for its annual Black and Gold Intrasquad meet. The official start of the 2004 track and field campaign is the Purdue Invitational, which takes place Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m.
