WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's starting backcourt scored a combined 32 points to lead the Boilermakers to a 70-63 win over Global Sports in its first exhibition game of the season.

Senior Kenneth Lowe scored 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting. He was 8 of 9 from the free throw line. Junior Brandon McKnight turned in the performance of the night, scoring 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting. He connected on all three of his three-point attempts. He registered one three-point field goal in all of 2002-03.

"McKnight is probably the most improved player so far," said head coach Gene Keady. "I said that somebody's going to have to take up the slack where Willie [Deane] left off, and McKnight was certainly part of that solution."

The Boilermakers led 37-17 at the half. Global Sports cut the deficit to four in the second half, but Purdue was able to connect on its free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.

The Boilermaker defense forced Global Sports into 17 turnovers. Purdue recorded 13 steals.

Global Sports is now 2-3 during their games against collegiate teams. Their two victories came against LSU and Southern Mississippi.

The Boilermakers are in action again on Nov. 18, against the Huntsville Flight of the NBDL. The game will tip at 7 p.m.
