BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team finished fifth at the 2003 Big Ten Men's Golf Championships, which were held at the at the par 71, 6,942-yard Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington.
The Boilermakers fired a final-round 292 and had a four-round total of 1159. Minnesota won the tournament for the second-straight year after a four-round total of 1122. Illinois finished second, Ohio State third and Northwestern fourth.
Senior Peter Karmis led the way for the Boilermakers. He finished the tournament four-under par and tied for second place overall with a four-round total of 280. He fired a final-round 71 on Sunday.
Senior Chris Mayson tied for 21st overall. He totaled a 293 and finished nine over par. Junior Luke Epp finished 10-over par and tied for 25th.
Junior Shiv Kapur tied for 42nd after a 301 over the four days. He fired a final-round 83.
Sophomore Dustin Cone tied for 50th overall after a four-round total of 305.
Purdue finished one spot ahead of Indiana in the standings giving the Boilermakers a full point in the Titan Series, an all-sport competition between the archrivals.
The Boilermakers will await to see if they are selected to the NCAA Regional Championships.
