BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds of the 2003 Big Ten Men's Golf Championships, which are being held at the at the par 71, 6,942-yard Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington.
The Boilermakers fired an opening-round 294 over the first 18 holes. They came back in the afternoon with a 284 for a first-day total of 578. Illinois leads after the first two rounds with a five-under 563. Minnesota is second with a 565.
Purdue was led by senior Peter Karmis, who is the tournament's overall leader after a first-day 137. Karmis fired a one-under 70 in the morning and then came back with a four-under 67.
Senior Chris Mayson is tied for 23rd overall after a 146. He fired back-to-back 73s. Junior Shiv Kapur is six over par and tied for 34th place after a 148 on Friday.
Luke Epp is tied for 30th after a 147. Sophomore Dustin Cone is in 52nd place after a two-round 154.
