Purdue Women's Golf Leading Field At Indiana Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team leads a talented 11-team field after one day of competition at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington. The Boilermakers completed 36 holes Saturday, despite inclement weather conditions, and are scheduled to play 18 more on Sunday.

The Boilermakers lead second-place Missouri by three strokes entering the second and final day of competition. The Old Gold and Black fired a 307 in the first round and carded a 304 in the afternoon session giving them a total of 611.

Purdue was led by Heather Suhr who fired a first round 151 (+3) and is currently in third place, five strokes behind leader Kim Benedict of Michigan.

Beth Hermes (152, +4) is tied for fourth after shooting a 76 in both the first and second rounds. Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for tenth after compiling a two-round total of 154 (+6). Sattayabanphot shot a 78 her first time through the course, but improved by two strokes her second around.

Heather Zielinski is tied for 12th at 155 (+7) and Kari Damron is tied for 16th at 156 (+8).

The event is being held at the par 74, 6,143-yard Indiana University Golf Course and features Arkansas-Little Rock, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Notre Dame, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Final-round play begins Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. EST with a shotgun start.
