LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville won Game 1 of the doubleheader as Jessica Rak held the Boilermakers to just one hit in the 2-0 shutout.
First baseman Keola Calderon hit a fielder's choice in the bottom of the fourth which ended up scoring two runs for the Cardinals. Calderon came up with runners on second and third after a pair of singles up the middle by Shannon Nord and Sara Bauscher and a sacrifice bunt by Amy Summers. The Boilermakers went for the out at the plate as Nord tried to score, but a wrap-around slide ended in a safe call. Bauscher scored as Purdue tried to keep Calderon from advancing to second.
Sophomore Andrea Hillsey had the lone hit of the game for Purdue, a lead-off double in the sixth inning. Senior Andrea Roush stole second after being hit by a pitch in the second inning.
Rak walked three and hit two Boilermakers in the winning outing, while Purdue allowed two runs on four hits as Burke dropped to 6-6 on the season.
