AUSTIN, Texas - The Purdue women's swimming & diving team wrapped up their competition on Saturday morning at the 2002 NCAA Women's Championships. The Boilermakers are currently tied for 28th-place with 11 points and hope to hold on for a top-32 finish after the Saturday finals session.
The Boilermakers swam to a 17th-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with juniors Lisa Dolansky, Lindsay Lange, sophomore Jenni Bean, and junior Kim Paradeise turning in a time of 3:23.96.
In the individual events, Dolansky finished 23rd in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.43 and Paradeise finished 47th in the 100 freestyle in 50.78. Lange came in 32nd in the 200 breaststroke race with a time of 2:17.97 and junior Patricia Finnerty finished 47th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.87.
On the 10-meter platform, senior diver Kara Hajek-Gustafson finished 23rd with a score of 317.30 in her final meet as a Boilermaker.
Although Purdue will not compete in the evening session of Saturday's final day, the Boilermakers hope to hang on to their 28th-place spot, in order to gain points for the Sears Director's Cup.
