BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - The Purdue women's golf team finished in sixth place after the final round of the Lady Gamecock Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina.
The Boilermakers fired a final-round 307 and finished the three-day event with a 46-over par 910. Duke won the event with a 10-over 874.
Senior Andrea Makauskas led the Boilermakers with a final-round 74. She finished with a three-day total of 223. Senior Caroline Laurens carded a final-round 75 and finished the event with a 10-over par 226.
Sophomore Beth Hermes tied for 33rd after a three-day total of 230. Hermes had a final-round 79. Junior All-American candidate Kari Damron finished in 35th place after a total of 232. She carded a final-round 79. Junior Heather Zielinski tied for 61st after shooting an 83 on Sunday and finished with a three-day total of 242.
The Lady Gamecock Classic was the third event of the spring season for the Boilermakers. Purdue finished 15th in the TRW Regional Challenge and tied for second in the Central District Invitational in February.
The Boilermakers hit the links again on April 5-7, when they head to Greensboro, N.C., for the Wake Forest Invitational.
