WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Willie Deane scored 23 points, Darmetreis Kilgore had 16 and John Allison 13 as Purdue used a 25-3 first-half run to beat Michigan 79-43 on Wednesday night.
The Boilermakers (12-14, 4-8 Big Ten) toyed with a Michigan team looking tired after playing its fourth game in a week. They raced to a 38-17 halftime lead, then held Michigan to nine points in the first 10 minutes of the second.
Smith, Deane and Kilgore all hit 3's in the opening minutes of the second half and another Smith 3 made it 67-31.
Purdue made 11 of 24 3-pointers, with Deane and Kilgore making four each.
The Wolverines (10-13, 5-7) led 8-6 before the Boilermakers scored the next 13 points. Deane, who scored 10 points during the first-half run, hit a 3-pointer to give Purdue a 31-11 lead.
Deane, second in the Big Ten in scoring, scored 16 points in the first half.
Bernard Robinson scored 13 points for the Wolverines, who shot only 24 percent. LaVell Blanchard added 11.
Austin Parkinson had seven assists for Purdue.
The Wolverines were lethargic after hosting Penn State on Saturday and losing an overtime game at Colorado State on Monday. They shot only 21 percent in the first half and never scored more than two straight baskets.
The Boilermakers snapped a three-game losing streak.
