Metzinger Does It Again

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Ebbie Metzinger led the Purdue track and field team at Ohio State on Saturday by surpassing her school and Big Ten pole vault record. The West Lafayette native leaped higher in the record books with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 4.25m/13-11.25.

After sitting out last season with a medical redshirt, Pooh Williams earned his first NCAA provisional mark of the year by clearing the bar in the men's pole vault with a mark of 5.20m/17-00.75. All-Americans Shaun Guice and Serene Ross both turned in provisional marks in their respective events. Guice leapt 2.16m/7-1.00 in the high jump, while Ross went 18.70m/61-4.25 in the weight throw.

For the fourth consecutive week, Keith McBride earned an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw with a mark of 19.41m/63-8.25. New Boilermaker Nedzad Mulabegovic also hit the provisional mark in the shot put at 18.95m/62-2.25.

Next weekend the Boilermakers will compete in two meets. Some members of the squad will travel to the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York, while others will compete in the Butler Cannon Classic. Results from both events will be posted to the website.
