EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Purdue forward Laura Meadows has done her share of yeoman work at the post.
But in the seventh-ranked' Boilermakers' 82-66 victory over Michigan State on Friday night, she did a little bit of everything - including dishing out a team-high seven assists.
"Any post player that has seven assists and one turnover, I might call them a point guard," said Michigan State coach Joanne P. McCallie. "She is a very diverse post player. She is the X-factor and a she is a big key to their team."
Purdue used a 20-3 run late in the game to shake off Michigan State for its sixth straight victory.
The game went back and forth until Purdue (17-3, 8-2 Big Ten) claimed control with its run in the final six minutes
Meadows, who finished with 14 points, scored her biggest basket when the Boilermakers needed it most. With Purdue leading 65-63 and under five minutes remaining, Meadows hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to extend to Purdue's lead to five points.
The Spartans would never get any closer as Purdue closed the game on a 20-3 run.
"I didn't want to walk into practice tomorrow and have there be something I didn't do for the team, so I went ahead and shot it," Meadows said of the 3-pointer.
Meadows shot 6-of-13 from the field and 1-of-3 at the line. She entered the game averaging 10.9 points and 7.4 rebounds.
