Final Stats

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Purdue volleyball team fell 23-30, 24-30, 30-27, 30-32 at Iowa on Saturday. Rookie Kim McConaha recorded 10 kills, 10 digs and eight blocks in the Boilermaker effort.

"We knew Kim was a great competitor when she came to us," head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer said. "She played with a lot of fire and enthusiasm for us tonight. She did a great job of blocking with two huge block solos. Kim brings a lot of intangibles to this team."

Sophomore Joanna Lowry led the Boiler attack with 17 kills. Senior Maegan Petersen recorded 14 and led the team with 23 digs. Iowa's Sara Meyermann, who leads the Big Ten in kills, had 31 on the evening.

After losing Games 1 and 2, the Boilermakers got out to their biggest lead of the evening with a 10-4 lead to start Game 3. A block solo from McConaha, three kills from Lowry and an out-of-bounds error by the Hawkeyes put Purdue up 15-5. The Boilermakers extended their lead to 28-20 before Iowa went on a 7-1 run to get within two at 29-27. But a kill by Lowry gave the Old Gold and Black the 30-27 win.

Game 4 remained tied through the 19 mark when Iowa scored six unanswered to take a 25-20 lead. The Boilermakers fought back to knot the game at 28, 29 and 30, but Iowa would win 32-30.

Next weekend the Boilermakers will travel to Indiana and Illinois for the last two road matches of the season.
