Men's Golf Places Third In Purina Classic

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Purdue men's golf team finished in third place after finishing with an 861 in the Purina Classic in St. Louis on Tuesday. The Boilermakers fired a final round 285, which was second lowest on the day. The event was won by Arkansas State who carded an 857. Host school Missouri shot an 860 and finished second.

Junior Peter Karmis was the low Boilermaker in the tournament after finishing tied for sixth with a 213. Senior Lee Williamson finished tied for 14th with a 216. Junior Chris Mayson fired a 217 and finished tied for 18th. Freshman Dustin Cone fired a 222 and tied for 42nd. Sophomore Shiv Kapur tied for 58th with a 226.

Purdue finished higher than Big Ten participants Illinois and Michigan State who finished sixth and eighth respectively. The Boilermakers were one of four schools to have three people in the top-20 overall.

The Boilermakers are in action again on Oct. 26-28 in Stanford, Calif., for The Nelson Invitational.
