Men's Golf In Fourth Place After 36 Holes In Purina Classic

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Purdue men's golf team is in fourth place after firing a 576 on the first day of the Purina Classic in St. Louis, Mo., on Monday. The Boilermakers trail tournament leader Illinois by seven strokes. There are 15 teams in the tournament.

Purdue was led by junior Peter Karmis who shot a two-under par 140 and stands tied for fourth individually. His second-round 67 tied for the lowest round in the tournament through 36 holes. Senior Lee Williamson carded a 145 and is tied for 23rd. Junior Chris Mayson is tied for 37th place after firing a 148. Sophomore Shiv Kapur and freshman Dustin Cone shot a pair of 150's.

The Boilermakers trail the host-school Missouri by two strokes. The Tigers shot a 574 and trail Kansas by one stroke. Karmis trails Missouri's Mark McBride by four strokes for the individual tournament lead.

The final 18 holes resumes tomorrow morning at 8:15 a.m.
