WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Camille Cooper scored 25 points as No. 7 Purdue beat Indiana 87-46 Thursday and clinched a tie for its sixth Big Ten championship in the last 10 years.
The Boilermakers (23-4, 13-1 Big Ten) could have won the title outright with losses by No. 17 Penn State and No. 25 Iowa. Instead, they will have to wait for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
Cooper scored 15 points in the first half and finished 10-for-13 from the floor in leading Purdue to its 15th win in its last 16 games.
The Boilermakers cruised despite getting two points from All-American Katie Douglas, who averages 14. Kelly Komara scored 15 points and was 11-of-11 from the line. Shereka Wright scored 13.
Purdue made 33 free throws while Indiana (16-8, 7-6) made 17 field goals.
Indiana, which trailed by 16 points in the first half, closed within nine points early in the second.
The Boilermakers then put the game away with a 15-3 run, highlighted by Lindsey Hicks' 3-pointer. Purdue closed the game with a 16-4 run.
Anna Waugh led Indiana with 12 points
Jill Chapman, Indiana's leading scorer with a 14.6 average, was held to seven before fouling out.
The Boilermakers shared the conference title in 1994, 1995 and 1997. They won it outright in 1991 and 1999 when they also won the national championship.
Cooper scored eight points in a 10-0 run that gave Purdue a 25-11 lead in the first half.
Waugh ended the run with a 3-pointer, but Purdue scored eight of the next 10 points and led 32-16. Indiana closed the half with 3-pointers from Waugh and Hartman and trailed 34-24.
