COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Katie Douglas, slowed by a nagging ankle sprain, was there when Purdue need her the most.

Douglas, who hit only one of her first nine field-goal attempts, made her second in the closing seconds Sunday, leading the No. 5 Boilermakers past Ohio State 74-71 in double overtime.

Douglas scored on a driving layup with 17 seconds remaining to give the Boilermakers (22-4, 12-1 Big Ten) a 72-71 lead. She was held to seven points, seven below her team-leading average, on 2-of-10 shooting.

"We have the faith and confidence to believe in her," coach Kristy Curry said. "She made it look good. It was all Katie. She made it happen."

Her big basket down the stretch wasn't a surprise to Curry, who watched Douglas score 21 points Thursday despite the injury. Douglas played 48 minutes Sunday.

"She struggled today," Curry said of Douglas. "She's not 100 percent and we didn't want to play her as mush as we did, but we had to."

Shalicia Hurns had 19 points and 14 rebounds for Purdue. Camille Cooper scored 14 points, Shereka Wright had 11 and Kelly Komara 10 for the Boilermakers.

Jamie Lewis scored 18 points and D'Wan Shackleford and Emily Haynam had 10 apiece for Ohio State (14-8, 4-8). Courtney Coleman had nine points and a career-high 15 rebounds for the Buckeyes.

Lewis also had six assists to become Ohio State's career leader with 566. Yvette Angel had 561 from 1981-85.

"It doesn't take away from the loss today," Lewis said of her record. "The team played its heart out. There's nothing better than getting the win."

The lead changed hands three times in the final minute.

Wright hit a twisting layup and a free throw to give Purdue a 70-68 lead with 59 seconds to play. Lewis made a 3-pointer with 34 seconds remaining to put the Buckeyes in front, but Douglas put Purdue ahead to stay on its next possession.

Lewis missed a 3-pointer seconds later, and Wright hit two free throws with five seconds remaining. Ohio State had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but Lauren Shenk's 3-point attempt from the top of the key bounced off the rim.

"They have a lot of depth and so many weapons," Ohio State coach Beth Burns said of Purdue. "It is a disappointing loss, but I'm real proud of our team."

Hurns' eight points in the final 6:43 of regulation helped Purdue avoid losing its second straight Big Ten game following 12 straight conference wins. The Boilermakers lost at Iowa 96-87 on Thursday.

Hurns hit a basket with 3:53 to go to tie it at 56 and sent the game to overtime at 59, hitting two free throws with 30 seconds left. Haynam's two baskets in the final 1:25 of the first overtime pulled Ohio State into a 63-63 tie.

Purdue used a 16-0 run midway through the second half to turn a 43-32 deficit into a 48-43 lead with 11:13 remaining, but Ohio State fought back to take a 56-54 lead on Tomeka Brown's two free throws with 4:10 to play.

"It was definitely a battle," Cooper said. "We had to focus on what we do best. We never gave up."

The attendance was 11,467, a record for an Ohio State women's game at Value City Arena.
