Women's Team Finishes Weekend With 5-4 Loss At Auburn

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's team finished its weekend with a 3-4 loss to Auburn Sunday. The Boilermakers fall to 1-2, while the Lady Tigers improved to 3-1.

Purdue picked up the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Jennifer Embry and Shannon Taheny defeated Andrea Piski and Katie Illarionova 8-6 at the top, while Melissa Iqbal and Erika Quebe stopped Carolina Maurer and Caroline Thompson 8-1.

Fick picked up a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win at the No. 5 singles spot over Maurer. Thompson faced defeat at the No. 6 spot to Iqbal 6-2, 7-5.

The Boilers will return home on February 19 in a doubleheader against Western Michigan and Illinois State.
