Boilermaker Soccer Pounded by Minnesota

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's soccer team was drilled by Minnesota, 4-0, in Big Ten action in Minneapolis, Minn., today. The Boilermakers' record falls to 6-7-0 overall and 1-6 in league play. With the loss, the Old Gold and Black have dropped six straight games, getting outscored 23-1 in those contests.

Minnesota (7-5-0, 5-3-0 Big Ten) needed only ten shots on goal to collect four scores and hand the Boilermakers their sixth shutout of the season. Purdue took 11 shots for the match, four on goal, led by three from freshman Jessica Baumhoff.

The Golden Gophers struck early and often. Laurie Seidl tagged the Boilers' for a goal and two assists, scoring her fourth of the season just 3:08 into the match with an assist from Erin Holland. Samantha Meyers added Minnesota's second tally at 9:48 with the assist to Nicole Lee to make the score 2-0 at the half. In the second half, Lee received a pass from Seidl and scored her fifth of the season at 49:49 to make it 3-0, before Megan Johnson closed out the scoring at 58:18 with the assist again from Seidl to make the final 4-0.

The Boilermakers return home next weekend for a two-game homestand, hosting Iowa on Friday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. and Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m.
