Doubleheader Produces Two Very Different Outcomes
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After being blanked in the opener by Michigan State, 11-0, the Purdue baseball team stormed back for a 22-3 stomping of its own.
The first game was the Mark Mulder show for Michigan State (15-20). In addition to pitching a five-hitter, he was 3-for-4, hit two home runs and drove in six.
The nightcap, however, was a group effort, with five different Purdue hitters collecting three or more hits, and catcher Anthony Grieco driving in five runs. Grieco also scored three times and had three doubles.
Bill Bennett and Ryan Cole chipped in with four RBIs each for the Boilermakers (13-19).
