Purdue Loses Third Straight
BEAUMONT, Texas - The Purdue baseball team was swept by Lamar University, dropping the third game of season-opening series, 13-1.
The Cardinals struck for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning sending Boilermakers pitcher Andy Helmer (0-1) to the showers after 1/3 of an inning.
Lamar University leftfielder Jason Klam went 3-for-5 on the day, with a homerun and five RBI.
Cardinal pitcher Wade White (1-0) went seven innings, allowing only three hits while stiking out 11.
Purdue shortstop Daryl Hallada had two hits, accounting for half the Boilermakers' production.
