Purdue Suffers Doubleheader Sweep
BEAUMONT, Texas - The Purdue baseball team was swept by Lamar University Saturday in the Boilermakers' season opener at Vincent-Beck Field.
The Boilermakers (0-2) suffered losses of 12-8 in the first game and 10-7 in game two. First baseman Aaron Dean had the best day of any Lamar player, going 5-for-8 on the day with two home runs, four runs scored and six RBI.
Lamar (8-1) was able to take advantage of the Purdue bullpen, putting up a six-run eighth inning to seal the win in the first game and then scored three runs in the eighth to break a 7-7 tie in the second game.
