Quartet Leads Boilermakers Past Valparaiso
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue quartet of Mike Hedman, Brian Joros, Andy Helmer and Jason Howard limited Valparaiso hitters to only three hits in the Boilermakers 9-2 victory Wednesday.
Hedman (3-1) started and worked six full innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs while striking out seven. Joros, Helmer and Howard each pitched one inning without allowing a hit.
Purdue took a 1-0 into the bottom of the fifth inning before exploding for five runs to put the game out of reach. Mark Tomsyck (1-for-4) and Mike Rose (1-for-3) each homered in the win.
The Boilermakers are next in action when they open a three-game series with Michigan Mar. 21-23.
