EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Purdue baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday with Northwestern, winning the first game, 5-3, while dropping the nightcap by a score of 13-1.
In the first game, the Boilers scored two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh in the abbreviated seven-inning game. A two-run home run by Rod Metzler in the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie and helped Purdue to victory.

All of Purdue's momentum went right out the window in the beginning of game two as Northwestern scored eight runs in the first three innings.
Boilermaker starter Matt Luce was the victim of the Wildcat bats, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in 2 and two third innings of work.
